We built Phonalyze out of necessity. Given the
current state of our society, our friends in Laryngology
and Speech Pathology asked for a solution tailored for
telehealth visits allowing audio to be captured from
remote locations without the degradation in quality
which occurs over video conference visits. The
solution had to be secure, private, reside on HIPAA
compliant servers with encrypted patient information, be
able to analyze audio through PRAAT, and be easy to use
without requiring any app to download.
The solution is Phonalyze.
We invite you to try it free, with absolutely no obligation. Send us feedback and requests, all from within Phonalyze.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Phonalyze do for HIPAA Compliance and Patient
Privacy?
We take patient privacy and HIPAA compliance very
seriously. Firstly, Phonalyze is hosted on a HIPAA
compliant server with Atlantic.net. The server
security architecture includes encrypted SSL security,
routine backups of data, and resides behind a
firewall. The Phonalyze database is fully encrypted
for patient privacy and resides behind an additional
security portal behind the front end segment of the
system. All patient information (including name,
phone number, email address, etc) is saved in encrypted
values with absolutely no patient information viewable
through the database. URLs which are sent to
patients for perceptual or voice tasks are encrypted and
completely anonymous over the internet. The URLs
generated by Phonalyze are created in real-time and
on-demand by the pathologist, fully encrypted without any
patient identifying information contained within
them. Voice and perceptual task responses are also
anonymous over the internet and encrypted without any
patient or therapist information contained within
them. The technology used in Phonalyze was
created by experts on our team with years of experience in
internet security and authentication management.
What technology does Phonalyze use?
Phonalyze is built on a PWA architecture - progressive web
application. Unlike traditional mobile apps, PWAs do
not need to be downloaded to a person's phone but contain
99% of the functionality available in traditional
apps. Using this architecture, we can encrypt all
information over the internet and allow the functionality
to work completely over the browser. PWA is the
architecture used by companies like twitter, Uber,
Facebook etc when accessed through a web browser.
The back-end processing of audio is done through PRAAT, a
shareware analysis application with voice analysis
reporting capabilities.
Who can use Phonalyze?
Phonalyze can be used by speech pathologists,
laryngologists, researchers, students, and anyone else
wanting to capture voice remotely with analysis capability
across remote locations or over telehealth visits.
Although designed with speech pathologists and
laryngologists as our expert advisors, we understand the
power of the solution and how it can be leveraged by
others. We welcome anyone who is interested to try it. Let
us know how it works for you!
Is Phonalyze fully developed?
Yes and no. The core functionality of Phonalyze is
fully developed but that does not mean we are done
developing it. We are still adding new tasks and
tools into the system. We built Phonalyze with
capabilities such as timed audio capture, open-ended audio
capture, Q&A or survey capabilities and more.
These capabilities were developed after understanding the
needs of our expert advisors. With the capabilities
developed, we are now able to add new "tasks" which
leverage the capabilities developed. An example of
this is when we create a task of "say ah" for five seconds
and later are able to easily add the task of "reading the
rainbow passage". Both tasks leverage the same
capability of capturing audio remotely, analyzing the
audio, and reporting the results back to the
pathologist. Similarly, we can create additional
tasks for patients to say "ee" or read a different
passage. With our capability-focused development
complete, the adding of additional tasks for patients
requires minimal development on our end. In fact, we
even included a "feedback" tab on the dashboard to
encourage you to send us requests for tasks that would
make your job easier and more effective. We may not
include all requests in the system, but we will definitely
run them by our advisors to gauge value.
How much does Phonalyze cost?
Before you pay anything for Phonalyze, we want you to try
it and see how well it works for you. When you register
for Phonalyze, we do NOT ask for any payment information.
We give you 30 days of Phonalyze absolutely free without
any obligation. After your 30 day trial, Phonalyze will
cost $39/mo and can be cancelled at anytime with the
access to Phonalyze through the end of the current billing
period.
What else is planned for Phonalyze?
After inserting the new tasks we have lined up, we are
planning to add therapy reminders and exercises allowing
therapists to schedule sessions with their patients. The
idea is to allow the therapist to schedule the tasks which
their patients need to complete on a regular schedule and
allow Phonalyze to remind the patient of the tasks through
automated text messaging or emails with a link to the task
exercises. The therapy tasks will be recorded when
applicable, and be trackable by the therapist to measure
improvement in voice performance.
Who can I contact with questions or requests?
We value your feedback! Getting in touch with our team at
Phonalyze is designed to be very easy. Once you login to
Phonalyze, we have provided a very simple feedback section
for you to enter any questions, comments, or requests
straight from the Phonalyze dashboard. In addition to the
in-system feedback, you can always email our team at
admin@Phonalyze.com.
